I love my freedom and complete abandonment in my brush strokes in Flight 2.  The wild horses really dictate how I feel when I see them in those moments and how I translate those feelings onto my canvas. This painting from 2004 is from a Spring Creek Basin black mustang I saw in 2003. The guide drove us near a grove of juniper trees on the other side of the basin. Suddenly the wild horses left the shelter of the juniper grove and came galloping out into the open and faced us in a huddle. The guide said they feel safer out in the open. They stopped running when they reached the open and stayed together, deciding their next course of action. The stallion protects and the lead mare leads them away from danger. I called the photo of this stallion I took “Freedom Run II.
