In 2016 Chrome was still found with his band on the hill at the first bend to the right inside the almost 22,000 acres of Spring Creek Basin. As always, we started at a distance, making our approach slowly. We stopped about 50 feet away. He watched us calmly. Then ever so cautiously, he and his mares moved slightly uphill. He was such a gentleman that I think he did not want to insult us by leaving abruptly. I saw Chrome in many colors of energy; never just gray. His swirling, colorful muscle lines show the power and vibrancy of his life.
